Martin, Tenn.–For the first time ever, this year’s Cooper Tires Bull Riding Classic will be held in Martin.
Organizers Cody and Korie Nance said the annual bull riding event is normally held at Oman Arena in Jackson in Jackson, but due to circumstances beyond their control, it could not be held there this year.
Instead, it will be held January 20 and 21 at the Ned McWherter Ag Pavilion at the UT Martin campus.
National Bull Riding Champion Cody Nance of Paris has invited 25 cowboys to compete in the grueling competition and dirt will be flying in two action-packed nights of bull riding sponsored by Nance Productions.
Nance is a professional bull rider and has qualified for the PBR World Finals 12 times. He was PBR rookie of the year in 2009 and has over 600 qualified rides in the PBR. He is one ride short of being the 20th rider in PBR history to make 300 rides on the elite tour.
The event will include a Bucking Bull Competition by Blue Steel Manufacturing, bull fighting and mutton busting. A Family Night will be held Friday night, with free pony rides, small petting zoo, free mechanical bull rides, more activities for children, thanks to Total Tech Solutions.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with the event starting at 7 p.m. Both night’s tickets are $25, with kids three and under free.
Tickets can be purchased at the Angry Axe, Interstate 69 Motorsports, Rustic Soul in Jackson and Eventbrite.
