The arctic blast made for a long, tough holiday weekend for the Union City Fire Department. “We made six calls on Christmas Eve, which is typical, and fourteen on Christmas Day, which is not,” according to Fire Department officials.
“All told, we responded to two motor vehicle collisions, two structure fires, one wiring problem (which was a structure fire narrowly averted), six water leaks, and numerous EMS calls. That means a lot of people had a less than merry Christmas,” they said.
“Even though the holiday has passed, we have families who could still use some Christmas spirit. Please check on your friends and neighbors in the coming days and help who you can.”
