Paris, Tenn.– Henry County Healthcare Center has undergone a change in leadership within the last few weeks as David Len McBride takes over as Administrator and Judy Planty moves into the role of Director of Nursing.
McBride, a native of Henry, graduated from McKenzie High School in McKenzie. After graduating from Bethel University, McBride earned his Nursing Home Administrator license in 1991.
He accepted a position as Assistant Administrator with Weakley County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in 1989. He left there in 1991 to accept a position at Hillview Nursing Home in Dresden. While there, he received his Preceptor certification.
In 1997, he accepted a position with Harber/Laman Management in Alamo, Tennessee, before returning to Weakley County Rehab and Nursing Center in 2001. He assisted the facility in obtaining its Medicare certification in 2002 and soon afterward, with the board’s approval, added a therapy department in 2005. McBride left the Weakley County facility in 2021 after 20 years of service. He returned to healthcare this year when the opening came available at HCHC.
McBride and his wife, Janie, have been married for 34 years and have three children and nine grandchildren. In his spare time, McBride is a classic car enthusiast who also likes to spend time outdoors.
Planty is originally from Bruceton, TN and is a 1973 graduate of Hollow Rock Bruceton Central High School. She graduated from Memphis State University in 1977 with a degree in nursing.
Her 45-year career in nursing began at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. She then spent 15 years at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She moved on to Huntingdon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center where she served as an MDS, assistant director of nursing and director of nursing. She then went on to serve as director of nursing at both NHC Rehabilitation in Somerville, TN and at Wesley Highland Manor in Memphis. Planty was a CES consultant for one year before coming to Henry County Healthcare Center eight and a half years ago.
Planty is married to Charles Planty of Brocton, NY, and she has two children: Andrew and Tyler Smothers. She also has three stepchildren – Nora, Lorin and Lindsey – and 10 grandchildren. When not working, Planty enjoys playing the piano, gardening and bird watching.
