Paris, Tenn.–It will be a white Christmas this year, but it will come with bone chilling cold. Temperatures swiftly dropped beginning in the late afternoon Thursday, with everyone waking up to historic frigid temperatures of -2 with wind chills of -20. A slow ‘warm up’ is forecast for the next couple days with temperatures expected in the 20s and 30s on Sunday.

Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey said roads are slick and there were several wrecks overnight. “Drive with caution and take your time,” he said.

Frey said one person spent the night in the county’s warming center located at Inman School on Harrison St. in Paris.

The photo was taken in Puryear by Michael Lane of Buchanan, who said he was driving in a semi and “saw a few cars spinning” overnight.
