Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Commission made the appointments of Bruce Reed and Susan Reagor to the hospital board official at Monday night’s meeting.
Reed and Reagor were nominated to the Henry County Medical Center board of trustees at last week’s meeting after presentations from nine candidates. Nominating Committee Chairman Monte Starks said all candidates “were good candidates” and the process was a difficult one.
The appointments are for four-year terms and will expire November 26. Reed and Reagor will be attending their first HCMC board meetings as members on Thursday of this week. Both Reed and Reagor were on hand for the commission meeting.
County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway announced that Paris and Henry County received the largest site development grant in Northwest Tennessee, per an announcement today from the state of Tennessee.
Governor Lee made the announcement of 10 new site development grant recipients earlier Monday, totaling some $3.1M altogether.
Paris/Henry County Industrial Park will receive $647,015 for access road construction, extending water and sewer utilities at the county industrial park. Ridgeway lauded the work of Paris/Henry County Industrial Board Director Rob Goad and Assistant Tara Wilson.
“As soon as the grant award is executed, we can begin,” Ridgeway said. “There has been a lot of interest, a lot of companies coming here to tour the park. And we got a good deal on the property.”
In other business:
–Upon recommendation of the Airport Committee, the commission increased airport hangar rental at the facility. Under the new agreement, the rental rate for aisport hangars at the Henry County Airport is increased to $190 for ‘t’ hangars and 21 cents per square foot for other hangars.
The new rates would be effective February 1, 2023, and will be phased in gradually (for current tenants only), with a maximum rental of $550 per month in 2021 and maximum rental increasing by $50 per year thereafter.
Ridgeway said this will increase revenues for the airport and set local fees slightly higher than the Carroll County Airport. He said this is the first increase ever at the airport.
–The commission approved an interlocal agreement betwen Henry County and the Drug Task Force. District Attorney Neil Thompson was on hand to answer questions. Under the agreement, one or more county employees would be assigned to assist the Drug Task Force.
–The commission authorized the sale of some 22 properties on the delinquent tax list at a reduced price. Ridgeway said most of the properties are in the Cobanna Estates area and are being sold at $500 apiece. The properties have been on the delinquent list since 2014.
