muzzall-mary

Mary Nell Hopper Muzzall, 98, of Mansfield, Tennessee, died Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at AHC Paris.

She was born Friday, July 25, 1924, in Hardin County, Tennessee, to Thomas D. Hopper and Vica Caroline Nix Hopper, who both preceded her in death.

There aren’t enough words to truly describe Mary Muzzall and the legacy she leaves behind after 98 years. Mary was the epitome of a Christian and a lady.

As an administrative assistant for over 25 years to the District Superintendent of the United Methodist Church Paris District office, she used her years to love God and people, and those who knew her could feel it.

She was sharply dressed and always wore a smile. Mary loved traveling with her friends and family, scrapbooking, and cooking.

Most of all, Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. She never missed a ball game, chorus concert, or other school event, and she was her grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader. Her nurturing spirit, infectious laugh, and the way she made everything better will be missed by all of those who knew her.

She was married to James Howard Muzzall, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1977. She was also preceded in death by her daughter: Melissa Anne Muzzall Oulman, who died Saturday, November 12, 2022.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons: James H. Muzzall, Jr., of Mansfield, Tennessee, and Tellie (Brenda) Muzzall, of Springville, Tennessee; her grandchildren: Brittany (Blake) Morgan of Almo, Kentucky, and Hunter Oulman, of Paris, Tennessee; her great-grandchildren: Maryn and Max Morgan, of Almo, Kentucky; her brother: Thomas A. Hopper, of Jackson, Tennessee; and her nephew: Nephew: Tommy (Jeannie) Hopper, of Jackson, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022, at McEvoy Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Gardner, of Shiloh United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Thursday, until service time.
