Stolen Car Recovered, Suspect Arrested After 3 Hours

Martin, Tenn.–A car stolen fom a local business was recovered some three hours later by the Martin Police and the suspect arrested.

David McDonald, age 28, is in the Weakley County Jail following his arrest on theft charges Friday.

Martin Police Ptl. Demarchio Lee was dispatched to 3J’s Market at 609 Elm Street at 5:20 a.m. on a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim said he left his car running in front of the business and an unknown Black man in a hoodie got in the driver’s seat and drove off. The car, a 2013 gray Chevy Malibu, was entered into NCIC.

At 8:18 a.m. the same day, police were advised that the car was heading toward the Martin city limits. Police tried to stop the car and it was abandoned and the suspect ran off on foot. McDonald was arrested after a chase at the parking lott of the Eagle Inn at 500 N. Lindell St.
