Paris, Tenn.–There were a lot of excited kids on hand for the annual Cops and Kids Christmas Shopping Trip Saturday.
The event is held each year and is sponsored by the FOP Tennessee-Kentucky Lake Lodge 17.
This year, 240 children were treated during the shopping trip. Each child could spend $75 on Christmas presents. When the children returned to PES, they received a bag with fruit, a breakfast item and other goodies.
Former Paris Police Chief Charles Elizondo said the shopping trip this year began at Paris Elementary School. “The children were teamed with a shopping guide then bused to Wal-Mart Supercenter for their Christmas shopping spree,” he said.
F.O.P. Vice President and Henry County Retired Chief Deputy Randy Gean said, “We have truly been blessed when we have so many volunteers step up and help the children of this great community.” Paris and Henry County generosity made it possible for the children to have a special Christmas.
Numerous law enforcement officers and school personnel volunteered Saturday morning for the shopping trip.
