Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Patriots move on to the TSSAA semi-finals with their win over Springfield Friday night. Final score 27-19 and the Patriots meet Page at home next Friday.
Coach James Counce talked after the game about the effort his team put on, with players stepping up to fill positions they may not have filled before. “It doesn’t matter if it’s Page or Nollensville, they have to come to 315 Wilson Street next week,” he said.
It was a chilly night, but Patriots’ fans came prepared with hand warmers, small heaters and blankets to wrap up in.
The Patriots fell behind by two touchdowns before getting things back on track. Pressure defense led to poor field position for Springfield. Half time would find Henry County with composure in the down time to move ahead at the end of the first half at 27-19. Both teams defense held their opponents scoreless for the last two periods. The Patriots took the 27-19 lead in the final period and held on for the victory.
