McKenzie Advance To Semi-Finals With Last-Minute Field Goal By Zach Aird

McKenzie, Tenn.–With a game-winning field goal by the ‘Iceman’ Zach Aird, the McKenzie Rebels advanced to the TSSAA semi-finals with its 20-18 victory over Fayetteville Friday night.

McKenzie will travel to Memphis to face MASE (Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering) next Friday. MASE beat Trenton-Peabody by 26-24.

McKenzie jumped out in front of Fayettville with two touchdowns in the first quarter but Fayetteville came back scoring two touchdowns but were unable to complete a point after attempt and two point try.  Zac Aird, kicked a field goal with seconds time running out in the first half to give McKenzie a 17 to 12 lead.  Neither team scored in the 3rd quarter but Fayetteville came back with a touchdown to take a 18-17 lead.  The Rebels had to go 81 yards with under two minutes to play to get into the end zone.

They were able to move it inside the 20 and “Cool Foot Luke” Zac Aird kicked a game winning field goal with time running out and ended with a 20-18 victory.
