Paris, Tenn.–Construction for the next house built by Habitat for Humanity of Paris/Henry County will begin at 8 a.m. this Saturday, November 19th and any volunteers that are available to help can come to 409 Irvine Street in Paris.
There is no need for prior experience to volunteer, although experience in carpentry and construction is gladly welcomed. You should wear clothes for being outside in the winter temperatures, bring gloves and wear close-toed shoes that you can get dirty. Lunch is provided for all volunteers.
The Habitat for Humanity of Paris/Henry County helps low-income individuals and families build and purchase homes with a zero percent APR interest mortgage rate. Its mission is to seek to put God’s love in action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Once a year, using many volunteers, a house is built for a qualifying family. “The program is considered a hand up, not a hand out”, according to Jim Robertson, president of the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. “The qualifying family must be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity and complete at least 400 hours of sweat equity towards the building of their habitat home. Of course, we always are looking for community volunteers to help in the home construction effort.”
