Dover, Tenn.–A Stewart County deputy and his K9 on the way to Henry County for K9 training put their training to good use, ending in an arrest of a Big Sandy man on drug and weapons charges.

Sgt. Aaron Page had stopped for gas at Westside Market on his way to Henry County for K-9 Training. Before leaving he noticed a subject pull into the market and exit his vehicle.

He thought the man looked a little confused and unsteady on his feet. A closer look revealed a pistol tucked in the man’s waistband (not illegal in Tennessee unless you are under the influence or have illegal drugs in your possession).

Sheriff Frankie Gray said, “Once he made contact with the man, he had his suspicion something was not right.”

After checking the man through NCIC he found him to have not only a suspended drivers license but also a warrant on file out of Benton County.

Sgt. Page then deployed K-9 Borys and he indicated that drugs were present in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle found methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia and a search of the man also turned up more methamphetamine as well as another pistol in the man’s boot.

By this time Deputy Aaron Taylor arrived who is a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and after doing a field sobriety test the subject was charged with driving under the influence of methamphetamine.

Arrested was Damien Stone, age 47 of Big Sandy.
