Ruth Ann Willoughby

Ruth Ann Willoughby, 63, of Paris, died Friday, October 28, 2022, in Paris.

She was born Saturday, February 14, 1959, in Dickson, Tennessee, to the late Morley Robert Bates and the late Bertha Smith Bates.

Ruth had formerly worked as an aide at the RoseStone Retirement Community until her health declined. She loved working in her yard, spending time with her family, and painting things. She was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church.

Monday, October 22, 1984, Ruth married Gary L. Willoughby , who preceded her in death Friday, January 28, 2021. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother: William Bates.

Survivors include her children: Brandi (Daniel) Witherspoon, of Big Sandy, and William R. (Lalania Gray) Baynes, of Dresden; sons: Aaron (Tracy McWherter) Willoughby, and Brian Willoughby, both of Paris; a brother: Richard Bates, of Clarksville; eight grandchildren: Brandon Dunlap, Dylan Baynes, Natalie Baynes, Ty Willoughby, Jase Willoughby, Jamie Witherspoon, David Witherspoon, and Melissa Adams; and two great grandchildren: Caroline Dunlap, and Tristan Baynes.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother William Bates.

Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St./ P.O. Box 788 Paris, TN 38242, will be handling the arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Ridgeway Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The funeral service will be Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Ridgeway Funeral Home at 2 pm, with Russell Ragsdale officiating.

Friends and family members will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.
