Henry, Tenn.–A home in Henry was heavily damaged by fire Sunday afternoon at the same time the field fire that destroyed 100 acres was ongoing in Carroll County.
The Henry Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to 190 Melton Rd. at 12:53 p.m. on a report of a house fire
Henry firefighters were already on the scene of the Carroll County field fire (story posted on our website earlier).
Firefighters said, “We split our resources up and sent part of our team to the scene with Engine 3 and Rescue 1. Once on scene we located a fire inside of the kitchen.”
Firefighters made entry into the front door and extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is believed to have been caused by the stove. Mutual aid was provided by Paris Fire Department, McKenzie Fire & Rescue and Mansfield Fire Department.
Henry Fire officials said, “No working smoke detectors were in the home at the time, which would have very well alerted the occupants of the fire. In this case the occupants had noticed something wasn’t right, when all of the dogs shock collars started to shock them (caused by the fire). The occupants then went inside to find the kitchen was on fire. Please check your batteries in your smoke detectors twice a year to make sure they’re fully functional.”
