craig-lunn-award-3

McKenzie, Tenn.–Our team of Craig Lunn and Jon Davis were presented with the J.A. Abernathy award for the 2022 year by the McKenzie Football Booster Club Friday night.

Lunn and Davis broadcast McKenzie High School games on our station WHDM.

Lunn works for the Bethel University dual enrollment program and is a graduate of Bethel University and McKenzie High School. Davis also is a Bethel graduate and McKenzie graduate works for Centennial Bank and is on the school board for the McKenzie special school district.

They both have children who have or are a part of the McKenzie school system.

The JA Abernathy award was started a number of years ago to recognize outstanding service to the McKenzie Rebel football team. JA Abernathy was known throughout Carroll County for his hardware store and support of local athletics in McKenzie.

Station Manager Lance Pierce and Vice President Jared Mims said, “We are so grateful to have Craig and John bringing McKenzie sports across our our airwaves.”

The award was presented at halftime of the Hollow Rock Bruceton Central football game last night where McKenzie captured the district championship with one game remaining in the regular season.

They will travel to McEwen next Friday night for their final game of the season before playoffs begin in two weeks. McKenzie will host the first round of the playoffs against the yet to be determined opponent as they seek to advance to the TSSAA state championship playoff for the second year in a row.

McKenzie beat Bruceton 49-0 Friday night. McKenzie is 9-0 on the season.
