DANBURY, Conn. – Sydney Hott, a junior Jumping Seat rider at the University of Tennessee at Martin, has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Rider of the Week in fences.
Hott nabs her first career ECAC weekly award after she helped guide the Skyhawks to a 9-1 victory during Saturday’s season opener against Dartmouth. Making her second career start in both Jumping Seat events, she not only went a perfect 2-0 on the day but also captured MOP honors in both fences and flat – earning top honors for the first time in her collegiate career.
Hailing from Defiance, Mo., Hott compiled a career-high 86 points in fences, helping UT Martin sweep the fences portion of the meet. She also excelled in flat as a career-best 80-point effort resulted in the second MOP honor of the outing.
The Skyhawks hit the road for the first time in 2022-23 this week, traveling to Fenton, Del. for a Thursday, Oct. 6 matchup against Delaware State before a Friday, Oct. 7 outing against No. 2 TCU.
