
Hurricane Mills, Tenn.–The legendary Loretta Lynn, the Kentucky coal miner’s daughter who sang about life for decades, has died at the age of 90.
Her family provided a statement on Loretta Lynn’s Facebook page which reports that she died earlier today at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
A statement from the family of Loretta Lynn:
“Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home at her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills.”
The family has asked for privacy during this time, as they grieve. An announcement regarding a memorial will be forthcoming in a public announcement.
Lynn was a songwriter and singer and she wrote frankly about poverty, cheating husbands, love, divorce and even birth control during her lengthy career. With her husband Doolittle by her side, she launched her career in the 1960s and steadily rose to fame with hits, “Coal Miner’s Daughter”, “You Ain’t Woman Enough”, “Don’t Come Home a Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind)”, “You’re Looking at Country” and many more.
