Paris, Tenn- Each year during the first full week of October, public utilities across the country celebrate Public Power Week to bring awareness to the advantages of having a public power provider. As Paris BPU offers more than just electricity, we celebrate Public Utilities Week- Paris BPU also provides city residents with Water and Wastewater services.

Paris BPU is celebrating Public Utilities Week with many activities that connect the Paris BPU with the community. Those activities include the annual free Community Cook Out on Thursday from 11-1 p.m. in downtown Paris and an LED light bulb giveaway on Friday.

This week’s activities include BINGO, where customers with a BINGO off the card will be entered to win $75 bill credit; in partnership with Commercial Bank and Trust, they are hosting a Community Canned Food Drive. The donation bin is located on Wood St. and Paris BPU and Commercial Bank & Trust will match the amount of canned food and non-perishables donated.

They will be highlighting different departments each day on social media.

Paris BPU participated in greeting students at Rhea Elementary and Henry Elementary School on Monday.

On Tuesday, Paris BPU will participate in the HCHS Reality Store and read during the W.G. Rhea Library’s Story Hour.

The annual Community Cookout is Thursday from 11-1pm. BPU invites the public to come enjoy free hot dogs, chips and cookies in the alley beside the main office. Paris BPU equipment will be on display during the Community Cookout.

Friday is National LED Day and we are celebrating by giving away LED light bulbs to the first 100 people.

Saturday is the last day to turn in BINGO cards via Facebook and they will draw five winners on Monday!
