Union City, Tenn.–The next step on their path into adulthood has been on the minds of Union City High School seniors of late.

More than 20 colleges and universities and several branches of the military were readily available to answer questions from students Friday at the annual UCHS College Fair Day.

Representatives from local and regional institutions were part of a large set-up in the commons area and dispersed information while answering questions of all varieties. Students could take home brochures and pamphlets and were given several “reminders” of college options in the form of key chains, lanyards, hats, shirts, and other “swag.”

Among those schools sending recruiters were Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Middle Tennessee State, Memphis, Murray State, and UT Martin. Austin Peay, UT Chattanooga, Bethel, Dyersburg State, LeMoyne-Owen, and Tusculum also had representatives at the session, which was open to juniors after UC seniors had the first go-round.

The U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Army National Guard also had personnel on hand.

On Sept. 21, College Application Day was held at the conclusion of the school day.

UCHS Guidance Counselor Susan Searcy – who also organized the College Fair – invited seniors who were ready to apply to colleges and their parents to Free Application Days that many colleges offer.

Representatives from UT Martin, Bethel University and Dyersburg State Community College were on hand to assist students with applications and answer questions regarding their choice of colleges.
