Moates Retires, White Named Acting McKenzie Chief

McKenzie, Tenn.–After eight years in the position, McKenzie Police Chief Craig Moates has retired.
McKenzie Mayor Jill Holland made the announcement and said, “Chief Moates accomplished a lot for the city during his time with us including a 13.7% overall reduction of crime over a three-year period (2019-2021).  We truly thank him for his time with us and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”
Holland said Ryan White has been named Acting Police Chief. “The safety of our city remains a main priority of the mayor and council.  Ryan White will be acting chief and I have complete confidence that he will continue to do a great job in this role,” she said.
The city has begun the search process for a new chief, she said.
