Jackson, Tenn.–Gospel Legend Dr. Bobby Jones of Paris was honored in the best way by Lane College: He was honored with good music and lots of it.
Lane College paid tribute to Dr. Jones, honoring his career, which includes being host of the long-running Bobby Jones Gospel program on BET and a Grammy and Dove Award winner.
And to make it more special, the tribute came at the beginning of Jones’ 84th birthday celebration (he indicated he planned to celebrate it all weekend).
Several people from Paris were on hand for the tribute, which included a performance by the Lane College Gospel Choir.
The program was called “Honoring the Legendary Dr. Bobby Jones” and he was recognized for his music, education, and cultural contributions.
Two years ago on September 18, Dr. Jones was honored in downtown Paris with the unveiling of the Tennessee Music Pathways marker. The marker is installed at the downtown plaza at the corner of Wood and Market Streets.
