LaVerne Morris Hopkins, 97, died at Morningside/Charter Assisted Living Friday, September 16, 2022.
She was born Thursday, February 5, 1925, in Henry County, Tennessee, to William Walter Morris and Elsie Barnett Morris, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Rachel Shelton and Willie Mae Lampkins and two brothers: Dempsey Morris and Wendell Morris.
Mrs. Hopkins was a long time member of the East Wood Street Church of Christ. She retired from the UT Extension Office.
She was married to Hulon L. Hopkins Sunday, September 23, 1951. Mr. Hopkins preceded her in death Sunday, August 4, 2013.
Mrs. Hopkins is survived by her son: Stephen M. (Patrice) Hopkins, of Boone, North Carolina; her grandchildren: Emily Katherine Hopkins and Jonathan Lee Hopkins; her sister Kathleen Coley, of Paris, Tennessee; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family requests that friends wear masks when attending the visitation and funeral.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at McEvoy Funeral Home, with Bro. John Dale officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 12 p.m. Wednesday until time of service.
Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
