Graveside services for John (J. D.) Presson, 100, were held Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11:00 a. m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie, Tennessee, with Bro. Jim Roberts officiating. Adam Phelps, Jason Harrison, Jeremy Spain, Rick Melugin, Keith Priestley and Richard Johnson served as pallbearers. Mr. Presson was born Saturday, July 22, 1922, in Big Sandy, Tennessee. He married Alvilda Griffin Presson Saturday, February 28, 1942. He served in WWII in Germany, Normandy and Austria, and was a retired bulldozer operator and welder. He loved his church family and was a member of the McKenzie Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Alvilda Griffin Presson; parents: Allen Presson and Mary Hedge Presson; sisters: Jessie Hines, Clara Myers, Jane Coleman and Mattie Morgan; and one Brother: Dan Presson.Survivors include his three daughters: Faye (Bob) Harrison, of Jackson, Tennessee; Martha (Gerald) Spain, of McKenzie, Tennessee, and Linda Phelps, of Gleason, Tennessee. Four grandchildren: Jeremy (Erin) Spain, of Lavinia; Jayna (Rick) Melugin, of Jackson; Jason Harrison, of Rockville, Tennessee; Adam Phelps, of Beech Bluff, Tennessee. One brother: R. L. Presson, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, and Nan Reed, of Jackson, Tennessee. four great -grandchildren.
