Al Billings, 85, of Puryear, Tennessee, died Sunday, September 4, 2022, in Paris, Tennessee.
Al was born Thursday, October 1, 1936, in Dott, West Virginia, to the late William C. Billings and the late Cora Tilly Billings. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children: Ruth Doell, who died Thursday, September 1, 2022; two sons: Michael Billings and Steve Billings; six sisters; and three brothers.
He retired after many years in the construction business where he worked as a lead carpenter. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union in Chicago, Illinois. Al was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War conflict. He loved his Boxer dogs: Red, Buster, Titus, and Lulu. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and being around people, especially his friends and family.
He is survived by two daughters: Sue (Tom) Zawacki, of Arizona, and Rebecca (Jerry) Trees, of North Carolina; his former spouse: Lori Billings; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, Tennessee, 38242. The body is to be cremated.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with a time of sharing and military honors to begin at 6:00 p.m.
