Paris, Tenn.–A crash into the brick wall at the intersection of Tyson and Wood Streets early this morning resulted in a fatality.
Paris Assistant Police Chief Ean Reed said the driver was a man from Puryear who is in his 80s. “It appears that he had a medical emergency and crashed into the wall,” Reed said. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle, he said.
The accident occurred around 2:20 a.m. today.
With this being the Labor Day weekend, Reed said the official accident report can’t be accessed for public release until Tuesday.
The brick wall has been the site of numerous accidents in the past, with drivers crashing into it. The brick wall has always been repaired and rebuilt. It now is owned by Developer Randy Crowder, who plans to open Oaklawn Restaurant there.
