UCHS Volley Ball, Golf In Winners’ Circle

Union City, Tenn.–Union City swept Lake County 3-0 in prep volleyball Thursday.

The Lady Tornadoes won 25-10, 25-20 and 25-7 to improve their record to 3-2 and complete a week in which they triumphed in two of three matches.

Madie Theobald had 19 assists and three service aces for UC. Emma Powell was credited with 22 assists, and she and Theobald had stretches of eight consecutive service points.

Addison Carr recorded nine kills and served up three aces, while Debrionna Jones finished with five kills. Morgan Palmer was good for three aces.

Union City will travel to Henry County on Monday.

Lady Tornadoes triumph

Adaline Rice and Mimi Jenkins posted matching 42s to lead Union City to a 15-stroke win (84-99) at Gibson County.

Bertie Jenkins shot 48 for the Purple and Gold, Alli Kate Frilling came in with a 50, and Molly Kizer carded a 51.

The Tornado boys finished five shots behind GC, 173-178.

Landon Hauhe’s 42 led the UC bunch. Reese Paschall shot 43, Nolan Chandler came in with a 46, Logan Vincent fired a 47 and Jack Harris had a 51.

Union City will host Obion Central Monday at Poplar Meadows Country Club.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SOFTBALL

Milan 9, UC 5

A late rally fell short as Union City saw its three-game winning streak snapped.

The Lady Tornadoes had cut a seven-run deficit to 7-5 after scoring all their runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Hadley Smith singled and scored for UC, while Sh’Nyla Moss reached base twice with a hit and a walk. Jailyn Jenkins and Allie Vincent also had singles for the Twisters with Averi Riley, Smith, Annalece Morton and Kylie Mayes crossing the plate.

Jenna Kate Cross had the Lady Tornadoes’ lone RBI.

Smith was charged with the pitching loss.

Union City (4-4) will play a doubleheader at Paris-Inman Monday.
