
Paris, Tenn.–Grand opening ceremonies were held at the Henry County Fair with the presentation of colors by the University of Tennessee at Martin ROTC, formal welcomes from Mayor Carlton Gerald and Fair President Alex Bomar and ribbon-cutting. Brother Randy Stephens of the Van Dyke Church of Christ led everyone in prayer, the American flag was raised and Laura Rich sang the National Anthem. Fairest of the Fair First Maid Emma Brewer cut the ribbon.
Bomar presented “Agmazing” scholarships of $500 to Susan Schultz, daughter of Jeremie and Molly Schultz of Puryear and Addson Delaney daughter of Scott and Heather Delaney of Paris. Delaney is now a freshman at Murray State University magoring in Agriscience while Schultz also plans to enroll in classes at Murray State.
Monday was a busy night at the fair with the annual Kids’ Cooking Competition and several Kids’ events. Three bicycles and a lot of prizes were given out. The Wives of the Henry County Sheriff’s Department organized and sponsored the Kids’ activities.
