Carroll County 4-H Students Win Big At State Horse Shows

Carroll County, Tenn.–Two Carroll County 4-Hers showed out at the regional and state 4-H horse shows this summer.

Alyvia Foster and Gracie Hix, both seniors at Hollow Rock Bruceton Central High School, earned numerous awards in the senior division of the regional and state 4-H horse shows. The purpose of the 4-H Horse Show program is to provide a progressive series of educational opportunities for 4-H members to exhibit their skills at the county, region, state or national levels. This program allows the 4-H members to participate in activities designed to improve their sense of citizenship, fair play, horse management, character, competitive attitude and self-discipline, while creating an atmosphere for learning and applying life skills. 

 

Alyvia Foster placed in the following categories at the regional competition: 

2nd- Halter Geldings, 2nd- Sr. Western Pleasure, 2nd- Sr. Western Horsemanship, 2nd- Sr. Ranch Pleasure, 3rd- Sr. Ranch Horsemanship, 4th- Sr. Trail- Western, Ranch & Gaited, 5th- Hunter Geldings, 5th- Sr. Hunter Under Saddle, 5th- Sr. Hunt Seat Equitation, 8th- High Point Winner- Hunter Division, and 9th- Sr. Showmanship. Alyvia also won the sr. high point ranch division. 

 

Gracie Hix placed in the following categories at the regional competition: 

Sr. High Point Runner Up- Ranch Division, 1st- Sr. Ranch Pleasure, 1st- Sr. Ranch, Horsemanship, 2nd- Hunter Mares, 2nd- Sr. Hunt Seat Equitation, 3rd- Sr. Hunter Trail, 4th- Sr Hunter Under Saddle, 4th- Halter Mares, 5th- High Point Winner- Hunter Division, 5th- Sr. Showmanship, 5th- Sr. Trail- Western, Ranch & Gaited, 6th- Sr. Hunter Showmanship

Gracie also attended the State 4-H Horse Show winning 1st in Sr. Hunter Trail and Sr. Ranch Riding. She took home 3rd in Sr. Ranch Showmanship, Sr. Hunter Under Saddle, and Sr. Hunt Seat Equitation, 6th in Sr. Ranch Trail, and 8th in Hunter in Hand Sr. Mares.
