MARTIN, Tenn. – Three University of Tennessee at Martin representatives joined an exclusive list today as Tate Chumley, Bryson Morrell and Jacob Uehlein were each named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

The Skyhawks have now claimed 15 All-America Scholars since 2016. Chumley and Uehlein join former teammates Ross Redmont, Jack Story and Nick Wolf as the only players in school history to win the award twice in a career.

Overall, 440 NCAA Division I student-athletes from 157 different schools received All-America Scholar recognition today. UT Martin accounted for three of the 16 Ohio Valley Conference honorees while its trio of representatives is tied for the most out of any Division I institution located in the state of Tennessee.

To be eligible for a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career 3.2 Grade Point Average. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Hailing from Murfreesboro, Tenn., Chumley exhausted his eligibility this past season. On the course, he garnered his second consecutive All-OVC nod after ranking 10th in the league with a 73.8 stroke average. In the classroom, he posted a 3.50 GPA while obtaining his Master’s degree.

Morrell also chalked up All-OVC recognition during his junior campaign, ranking 18th in the league with a 74.6 scoring average. The Knoxville, Tenn. native recorded a 3.58 GPA while majoring in engineering.

Uehlein was one of the Skyhawks’ top performers during his junior season, ranking 15th in the OVC with a 74.5 stroke average. In the classroom, the Tullahoma, Tenn. native boasted a 3.67 GPA while majoring in agricultural business.

Today’s announcement puts the finishing touches on another highly successful season for the UT Martin golf program. The Skyhawks earned their second consecutive OVC championship and made an ensuing trip to the NCAA Regional while capturing their eighth straight OVC Team Sportsmanship award.
