Dover, Tenn.–The Stewart County Sheriff’s Office is doing its part to make sure our schools are safe as possible.
Sheriff Frankie Gray has wanted every Deputy, Investigator as well as the SRO’s to have master keys.
Last week the Sheriff’s Office purchased keys and now any deputy can get into any outside door at any school in the county as well as most all classroom doors. All deputies also will have a folder in their vehicle with a diagram of every school with all exits and entrances marked as well as the classrooms.
A plan for more law enforcement presence at the schools is being completed as well as an upgrade on equipment and weapons is being worked on to be finished by the start of the school year. All SRO’s are receiving additional active shooter training.
Gray said the Sheriff’s Office also has other things being implement but due to security reasons cannot be released to the general public. The Sheriff’s Office wants all parents to know that they will continue to look at ways to make the schools safer.
