Paris, Tenn.–Two members of the Henry County High School Fishing Team received the call they’ve been waiting for.
Caiden Ellis and Gage Byars have qualified to compete in the Bassmaster High School Nationals at Lake Hartwell in August.
Caiden is the son of Kandi and Daniel Ellis and Gage is the son of Brandi and Justen Byars.
The pair competed in the Nationals last year. Lake Hartwell is in South Carolina.
Coach Kandi Ellis said, “We have a lot to do to prepare for this 450-mile one-way adventure” that happens in one month.
The Henry County High School Fishing Team has come a long way in a short time.
“The Henry County High School Fishing team has been going since 2017,” she said. “In June 2017, our first team competed in the Nationals on Kentucky Lake and finished in 2nd place. Every year after, HCHS has been represented at the Bassmaster Nationals. This would not be possible without the support of our sponsors and family and friends. Also a big thank you to the Henry County School System for supporting these young ladies and gentlemen in a sport they love.”
