Union City, Tenn.–Parents of students at Union City Elementary School and UC Middle School will have one less thing to worry about when it comes to getting their children ready for the 2022-23 school year.
Director of Schools Wes Kennedy has announced that the school system will provide school supplies for every student in Pre-K through the 8th grade for the coming year.
Kennedy said he hopes the gesture will ease some of the stress many families encounter when trying to prepare for the beginning of the new school year.
“Unfortunately, the cost of everything has risen over the last several months, and I hope this will help a little with the expense that comes with starting school,” Kennedy stated. “Many of our families have multiple children, and things can add up quickly when you consider all things.
“It’s certainly something we’re happy to do for them during these trying times.
Registration for students in the Union City School System is set for Aug. 4, with the first day of classes for the 2022-23 school year on Aug. 8.
