Huntingdon, Tenn.–The Carroll County 1,000-Acre Lake will have both a new owner and a new name as of July 1.
The lake is being purchased by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) for $11 M from the Carroll County Watershed Authority.
The lake’s new name will be Lake Halford.
TWRA Director of Communications Emily Buck told The McKenzie Banner that the transfer of ownership and management is effective July 1 and that it will not affect operations. She said the lake will be open the Fourth of July weekend.
The Carroll County 1,000-Acre Lake opened in March 2013 and has been recently named a Bill Dance Signature Lake.
The new name is in recognition of retiring State Rep. Curtis Halford (R-Dyer).
