Robert Earl Barber

Robert Earl Barber, 82, of Paris, Tennessee, died at his residence Thursday, June 23, 2022.

He was a retired U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper at Ft. Bragg. He was awarded the soldier’s medal for bravery while stationed in Japan 1963-1966.  After his military service, Robert spent many years as a truck driver.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.  He was a charter member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Paris.

Robert was born Monday, March 18, 1940, in Trenton, Tennessee, to the late Thurl Barber and the late Mildred Joyce Barber Turner.

He was married Friday, February 6, 1959, to Martha Jean Martin Barber, of Paris, who survives.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter: Teresa Barber (Mark) White, of Trenton, Georgia; two sons: Kenny (Tabby) Barber, of Springville, Tennessee, and Jimmy (Amy) Martin, of Buchanan, Tennessee; one sister: Linda Kinkaid, of Humboldt, Tennessee; four grandchildren: Matthew (LaBrina) Frantom, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Summer (John) Weiss, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Taylor Henry, of Milan, Tennessee, and Tara Barber, of Paris; and six great-grandchildren: Lyla Grace Weiss, Jax Weiss, Truett Frantom, Lanora Frantom, Levi Henry, and Charlotte Henry.

Arrangements were handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, Tennessee, 38242.  Memorial visitation was Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home and the memorial service began at 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Johnny Farmer and Chris Downing officiating.
