McKenzie, Tenn.–Ryan Griffin hosted a kick-off event for his campaign for Mayor of McKenzie recently and many folks from the McKenzie community as well as family were in attendance.
Community members enjoyed a time of fellowship with yard games, a catered meal, and a time to hear from the new candidate. The event was held at the old Merrick house on Paris Pike which is now owned by Brian and Jen Wallace, who moved to McKenzie from Washington State.
Griffin is seeking the position of Mayor that current Mayor, Jill Holland, has held for over a decade.
“I live here…I work here…I worship here…,” Griffin said. “McKenzie has been my home for the last decade and I want to serve McKenzie and help lead us to a future with better schools, thriving retail and industry, an increased focus on parks and recreation, quality of life and better roads. I want to lead a community Where people feel safe. ….where people of all socio-economic backgrounds have options….somewhere that we can all be proud of. I want to grow on that solid foundation that has been laid by Mayor Holland and generations of leaders.”
Griffin currently serves as the Director of Renaissance Relations at Bethel University where he oversees the recruiting and community relations for the program. He is married to Lisa Bradfield Griffin and they have three children, Lute (16), a 5th generation McKenzie Rebel, Lila Ruth (deceased), and Isaac (5), entering the McKenzie school system in the fall. They are actively involved at First Baptist Church and in the community.
Ryan has been involved in a number of ways throughout his time in McKenzie. He has served on the Act II committee that helped raise funds for the Park Theatre. He also served as the Chairman for the Sweet Tea Festival for 3 years and was able to increase attendance including visitors from more than two states. He is a graduate of the Carroll County Leadership program.
Griffin is a graduate of Bethel University where he earned his Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis on Information Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Studies from Union University.
