Paris, Tenn.–Congratulations to the 2022 Henry County Conservationists of the Year Don & Brenda Parker!
Henry County farmers Don & Brenda Parker were awarded the 2022 Henry County Conservationist of the Year Award by the Paris Henry County Chamber of Commerce during the 2022 TN River Jam.
The Conservationist of the Year is awarded annually and is designed to recognize farmers/producers in Henry County who delivers exceptional conservation results, is highly innovative, has shown that they are a leader in conservation, and shares knowledge within the agriculture industry. The Parkers were presented their award by the Henry County Extension Office with the following statement:
“Parker Farms have spent their career utilizing and adopting farming practices which have sustained and improved soil quality and health on their farms. For more than 18 years, Mr. Don and Mrs. Brenda have implemented no-till farming practices and crop rotations to improve soil and water quality. They have also incorporated water and sediment control basins that have reduced and controlled erosion. The Parkers have integrated cover crop rotations over the past 10 years which have assisted with soil health, erosion and water quality. They have also established pollinator habitat on their farm to help promote and enhance pollinator species. In addition to advocating for conservation through their farming practices, Mr. Don and Mrs. Brenda also serve on many local agricultural committees and boards. Such as: Henry County Soil & Water Conservation District Board, Henry County Farm Bureau, Henry County Farm Bureau Women, just to name a few.”
Congratulations to the Parkers for their conservation efforts to improve the land and water resources in Henry County! The Henry County SWCD thanks them for their past works and continued devotion to soil conservation and sustainability for future generations!
