Paris, Tenn.–A huge crowd of kids were buzzing about bees at the Atkins-Porter Botanical Garden Monday for this week’s W.G. Rhea Library Children’s Story Hour. About 70 kids–40 of whom were from Lakewood School–were on hand for the session. Local Beekeeper SarahRose Jackson presented the program, letting the kids put on beekeeping gear and showing them the beekeeping process. She also passed out honey sticks, brought jars of honey, bees, and honey combs. Children’s Librarian Kayla Nation read books on bees while everyone gathered on blankets in the pavilion, with ceiling fans and box fans keeping everyone comfortable. Popsicles were a big treat at the end of the morning. (Shannon McFarlin photo).
