
Oakland, Tenn.–Firefighters from five departments battled a blaze that resulted in a shop being destroyed Sunday.
The Oakland Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 1:20 p.m. to 4465 Clifty Rd. and on arrival, they found the shop fully engulfed.
Fire Chief James Martin said the fire was spreading toward both the house and the woods.
“We received mutual aid from Springville Fire Department, Paris Fire Department, Mansfield Fire Department, and Tennessee Forestry,” he said. “We also had EMS on scene as a precaution.”
The shop was completely destroyed along with the contents which included a tractor, 4-wheeler, and a Chevy Camaro among other things, he said.
Oakland responded with four4 firefighters and three trucks, Springville responded with two trucks and three firefighters, Mansfield responded with one truck and three firefighters, Paris responded with two trucks and four firefighters.
“We were on scene for approximately 3 hours,” Martin said, “While EMS was not needed, 2 firefighters did receive a couple of scratches, none of which needed more than a band-aid.”
