Union City, Tenn.–Halfway through its eighth annual season, Camp Rock is truly rolling.

More than 300 elementary and middle school students from the Union City School System are involved in the annual summer program that is to aid students in maintaining or improving their previous year’s academic standing in a structured learning environment.

Camp Rock – which has grown in enrollment every year since its inception — was initially created by Union City Schools to combat learning loss during the summer by reviewing and relearning critical academic areas. Student behavior and citizenship have also a focus of the program.

It has since become a state-mandated program across Tennessee.

Camp Rock students receive instruction and review in reading, math, intervention and STREAM during the course of a 6 ½ -hour day Monday through Thursday. Physical activities, fun times and meals are also included each day.

The program will conclude June 24.
