Friday was a big day for the McKenzie Rebels as they faced neighbor Peabody High School in the TSSAA state tournament. The Rebels had to wait after rain delayed the contest for a day and took on Peabody at 3:00 today. In a low scoring contest the Rebels dropped to the losers bracket with a 2-1 loss. But the Rebels rebounded with a 10 to 1 win of Gordonsville to advance and will face Peabody again Saturday. The Rebels will have to beat Peabody twice to advance to the championship against Eagleville.
Ty Anderson’s 7 innings pitching along with Jake McDaniels 4 RBI’s in the contest saw the Rebels defeat Gordonsville 10 to 1 in the game Friday night. Now the Rebels must face Peabody at 10:00 in the morning and with a win will play again at 12:30. Beating Peabody twice won’t be easy but if the Rebels want a state tournament opportunity, that’s what they will have to do.
