Tornado Debris Removed From Kentucky Lake

With help of the Marshall County Rescue Squad, the Living Lands & Waters organization was able to expand its scope and remove the underwater debris that has appeared in Kentucky Lake following the devastating tornadoes that passed through Tennessee and Kentucky in December 2021.
Living Lands & Waters is an environmental conservation organization that has removed some 1.2M pounds of debris from the around area waterways in recent years, including at Paris Landing State Park.
“But what about all the debris that sunk to the bottom?”, they asked.
With the support and partnership of the TVA, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and the Marshall County squad, Living Lands & Waters hosted a diving event last week.
It was a full day of diving and marking debris underwater, and let us tell you, the dive teams killed it, they said.
Officials said, “Huge thank you to marshallcountyrescuesquad and McCracken County Rescue for helping us organize a safe and effective way to flag and remove the underwater debris. Lastly, a massive thank you to Hamilton County Police Association and Mid-County Fire Protection District for traveling over 5 hours to come and help! It was an honor to watch you all dive and safely help us remove the remaining debris from the tornado.”
Living Lands & Waters is continuing to get Kentucky Lake cleaner each day.
