
Dyersburg, TN — Willie Locust., age 65, was found guilty after a jury trial of Possession of Cocaine over 0.5 grams with intent to sell or deliver; Possession of Methamphetamine over 0.5 grams with intent to sell or deliver; Simple Possession of Xanex; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony and sentenced to serve 28 years with the Tennessee Department Corrections.
The trial was presided over by Judge Mark Hayes.
According to information presented at trial, the Dyersburg Police Department received a Crime Stoppers tip that Willie Locust was selling drugs out of his hotel room. A search warrant was obtained, and a search of the defendant’s room was conducted which resulted in officers finding cocaine, methamphetamine, Xanex, marijuana, a variety of pills, digital scales, plastic baggies for packaging narcotics for sale, brass knuckles, and a handgun with live rounds of ammunition.
District Attorney General Danny Goodman, Jr. said, “Most crime that occurs are a result of drugs in one manner or another. In order to protect our children and the citizens of our community, the district attorney’s office will continue to fight the dealers who sell this poison to our children.”
This case was investigated by the Dyersburg Police Department and prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney General Karen Burns.
