Henry County Republican Primary Set Tuesday

Tuesday, May 3, is Election Day in Tennessee.

In Henry County, it’s a Republican primary and contested races include Circuit Court Judge, 24th District Attorney and county commission. With Early Voting now at an end, voting on Tuesday will be at the county’s five polling places. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

Contested races are:

Circuit Court Judge Part II, with GOP candidates Vance Dennis, Bruce Griffey and Terry Leonard. Dennis is an assistant district attorney in Savannah; Griffey is now a State Rep., but earlier announced his pending resignation to run for Circuit Judge; and Leonard, a long-time attorney from Benton County.

24th District Attorney with candidates Incumbent Matt Stowe and Attorney Neil Thompson, a long-time attorney who lives in Springville and practices in the 24th District.

Whoever wins these primary races will effectively be the winners.

Commission races on the ballot include District 1, 2, 3 & 5.

Henry County Schools will be closed Tuesday with their schools being used as voting sites.

Henry County polling places:

District 1: Harrelson School, Puryear; Cottage Grove Baptist Church.

District 2: Henry School; New Harmony Baptist Church.

District 3: Paris Landing Senior Center; Lakewood School, Buchanan.

District 4: Grove School gym, Paris; Central Community Services Center, Paris.

District 5: Tennessee College of Applied Technology and Henry County High School, both Paris.
