Paris, Tenn.–The premier event of the World’s Biggest Fish Fry–the Grand Parade–will be held at 10 a.m. Friday and the Paris Police have issued some reminders and safety concerns for the public.
Thousands of people throng to Paris for the Grand Parade, which begins around the East Wood St. Church of Christ and moves to the Henry County Fairgrounds.
The following is from the Paris Police:
Welcome everyone to the 69th annual World’s Biggest Fish Fry! We encourage everyone to enjoy themselves and take advantage of all the festivities that the event has to offer. That being said, there are still a few safety concerns and points of interest that need to be addressed concerning Friday’s Grand Parade.
1. Parking will be allowed on the south side of the parade route from Tyson Avenue east bound to Fairgrounds Road beginning at midnight Thursday night (Friday morning)
2. Make sure that private drives and intersections remain clear
3. Leave your cell phone number on your dash if you are leaving your vehicle on the parade route. If there is a problem we will attempt to call you prior to towing the vehicle.
4. No bikes, ATV’s, skateboards, skates, mini bikes, golf carts, etc. on route unless part of the parade or an authorized vehicle (i.e., Jaycees, EMS, Rescue squad, and Law enforcement)
5. No pets of any kind allowed on the parade route unless part of the parade
6. No throwing of any items from the parade entrants, participants may walk the items out to the crowd if desired.
7. No poppers or other fireworks of any kind will be sold or thrown out on the parade route.
8. When the parade ends make sure all vehicles are moved. If left unattended and in a traffic lane they will be towed.
9. Vendors must have a permit to sell on the parade route.
10. Backpacks will be checked for content on the route.
11. Parade entrants must be in possession of a valid drivers license
These are just a few items to consider in an effort to keep everyone safe and we would like to personally thank everyone for their cooperation and courtesy in these matters. We look forward to another great World’s Biggest Fish Fry Grand Parade!
