Paris, Tenn.–Meeting in short session Monday, the Henry County Tourism Authority agreed to help fund two local events and denied a third application.

Approved was an application for $5,ooo to help host Puryear Day, which is set for May 7. The Puryear Lions Club is bringing back Puryear Day this year, with a day-long schedule of activities including parade, Fajita Brothers performance, dunk tank, games, petting zoo and more.

The Authority also approved a $16,500 request from The Bass Federation for a junior bass fishing tournament at Kentucky Lake July 24-30.

Denied was a request from BFL for a local tournament. BFL was requesting $75,000 which Paris-Henry County Chamber CEO Travis McLeese said would “be a significant investment at this time.”
