Murray, Ky.–The Calloway County School District and Sheriff Nicky Knight have recently decided to increase the School Resource Officer program. Currently there are two School Resource Officers employed by the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office. However, that number is set to nearly quadruple as quickly as the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.
Knight said, “Recent legislative changes prompted us to consider expanding the program to all schools in the district. The addition of 5 more School Resource Officers will allow one to be assigned at each campus.”
The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for School Resource Officer, a position which will be staffed in conjunction with the school calendar.
“The safety of Calloway County School District students and staff is one of the most important public safety issues and one of my highest priorities,” Knight said. “I request certified law enforcement officers to consider joining the program and investing in the future of Calloway County.”
