Paris, Tenn–Over 125 student athletes participated in the Henry County Special Olympics this morning before an enthusiastic crowd at Barton Field in Paris. The athletes were escorted into the stadium by Deputies Monte Starks and Jeff Smith of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office motorcycle patrol while “We Are The Champions” played on the public address system. HCHS Student Michael Pond carried the torch aloft for the march onto Barton Field. Several members of the Paris-Lakeway Kiwanis Club were on hand, setting up the winners’ stand and helping to organize the event. (Shannon McFarlin photo).
