Union City, Tenn.–Union City Director of Schools Wes Kennedy believes he has a “great fit” for the role of Vice-Principal at UC Middle School.

Cole McAdams, who has served as a high school teacher and head baseball coach of the Golden Tornadoes for six years, will transition to his first administration position at UCMS on May 2.

The 31-year-old McAdams will take over as VP for Thel Taylor, who’ll move to the school system’s Information Technology (IT) Department for the remainder of the year. Taylor, who has served in both the classroom and as Vice Principal at UC Elementary School before moving to UCMS in an admin capacity, will return to UCES as a teacher at the beginning of the 2022-23 school year.

“I truly believe this is a great move for both Mr. McAdams and for our school system,” said Kennedy, who expressed appreciation for Taylor after he filled a void at UCMS two months ago. “Cole has many of the qualities we look for in an administrator – organization, work ethic, and the desire to do whatever he’s asked to make our school system better.

“Just as important, he loves kids. I have no doubt he will be a great asset to the faculty and staff and in the hallways at Union City Middle School.”

McAdams and his wife, Kelsey, have three children (Landon, Saylor and Carson) in the UC School System. He will continue in his role as head baseball coach, having recorded his 100th win for the Purple and Gold earlier this season.

“I’m excited and humbled for the opportunity to become an administrator in what I believe is one of the best school systems in the state. I appreciate the faith Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Morgan have shown in me and I look forward to being a positive presence in the lives of our middle school students while preparing them for the next level of their education.

“Union City has become home for me and my family. I truly want to make a difference here and believe I can do so in this role.”

The final day for classes in the UCSS for 2021-22 is May 24, with graduation set for May 21.
