Funeral Arrangements Set For Long-Time Henry Co. Sheriff Sgt. Robert Camper

Long-time Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert B. Camper, age 57 of Paris, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at his residence. Camper was a Corrections Sargent with the sheriff’s office and was a founding member of the Cumberland K9 Search & Recovery.

Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey posted the following on the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page Tuesday evening: “Our hearts are heavy tonight with the passing of Sgt. Rob Camper. Sgt. Camper was a 22 year veteran of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office where he served many roles. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers in the days to come.”

The Cumberland K9 Search & Recovery posted: “Today our team is heartbroken. We lost one of the founding members of Cumberland K9 Search & Recovery. Robert Camper was mentor, trainer and dear friend to many. Rob was always willing to lend a hand and was loved by most everyone that knew him.

“Rest easy brother….we will continue to do our best to bring them home.”

His funeral service will be at 2 PM Saturday, March 26, 2022, at McEvoy Funeral Home with Dusty Stout officiating.

Burial will follow at Puryear City Cemetery. Visitation will be at McEvoy Funeral Home from 4-7 PM Friday, March 25, 2022, and after 12 PM Saturday prior to the service. Pallbearers for Mr. Camper will be Tim Hester and members of the Henry Co. Sheriff’s Department.

Robert B. Camper was born July 31, 1964, in Chicago, IL to the late Fred Thomas Camper and the late Rita Jeanette Kajer Camper. He is survived by longtime companion, Donna Snow of Paris, TN; aunts and uncles: Sissy (Lynn) Waggoner of Palmersville, TN; Helen Marski of Gary, IN; Jean (Freddie) Hollis of Hornbeak, TN; Judy Lessard of Puryear, TN; and Bennie Camper of Puryear, TN.

Robert worked at the Henry Co. Sheriff’s Department for 22 years. He also worked at Middleton Lumber for 17 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved animals and was a founding member of Cumberland Search and Rescue K-9.
