Paris, Tenn.––At its meeting Monday, the Paris Utility Authority Board of Directors honored the service of former Board Vice-Chairman Ralph Anderson, who passed away suddenly February 23.
He had served on the Board over 30 years having been first appointed in November 1991. Chairman David Flowers read the resolution in its entirety prior to it being passed.
The resolution noted Mr. Anderson’s “quiet but strong voice” as well as his consistent support and appreciation for the men and women of the Paris Board of Public Utilities. Board Chairman David Flowers said, “Mr. Ralph provided us all with an example of unselfish, thoughtful, and generous service to others and will truly be missed.”
In other business, CEO Terry Wimberley reviewed the monthly financial and statistical reports for the utility. Positive net incomes were reported in all three departments and cash balances were routine and healthy.
Wimberley said the water department has received a second consecutive perfect score on the latest three-year review from TDEC. TDEC does a records review to document the operational performance of the entire water system from wells to treatment to the distribution system and everything in between.
“A perfect score from TDEC is no small feat”, said Wimberley. “Our water department staff, under Tony Brown’s leadership, deserves tremendous credit for this accomplishment”.
Wimberley also provided updates on some ongoing projects. The Eagle Creek delivery point substation is set to be online by mid-July. Construction on the Paris BPU solar project is set to begin in mid-May with completion set for November 2022.
The wastewater department is concluding all requirements of the TDEC Consent Order including three years of work at the treatment plant and five years of rehab in the collection system. Once again, Wimberley offered kudos to the wastewater staff and Vice President Tony Brown for all that has been accomplished to meet the Consent Order deadline.
Wimberley’s employee guest for the month was Connie Edwards. Edwards started as a part-time cashier in 2008 moving to full-time in 2010 where she served for 11 years. Last February, she moved to an Administrative Assistant/Receptionist role and performs numerous administrative tasks. Wimberley noted, “Connie is known for her constant smile and pleasant demeanor with our customers and within our office. She is a great asset to our utility.”
